MKT Trail Hogan Pedestrian Bridge

Update: MKT Trail Hogan Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation

Starting September 22, 2025, the trails directly underneath the MKT Trail Hogan Pedestrian Bridge over White Oak Bayou will be temporarily closed. This closure is necessary to begin the full rehabilitation of the bridge, which has been closed since early this year.

Project Background

In February 2025, the MKT Trail Hogan Pedestrian Bridge was closed after it was determined to have severe structural damage. Houston Public Works’ contractor performed a partial demolition of the bridge, which required a temporary closure of the trails below for safety. Once that demolition was completed on February 20, 2025, the trails were reopened while Houston Public Works worked to select a contractor for the full rehabilitation project.

In July 2025, City Council approved the contractor MC2 Civil, LLC to proceed with the emergency repair.

Upcoming Closure & Timeline

With the contractor now on board, full construction of the bridge is ready to begin. The bridge and the trails that run directly beneath it will be closed for the duration of the project, starting September 22, 2025. Construction is expected to last 90 days, with a targeted reopening date at the end of December 2025 (weather permitting). We appreciate your patience as we work to complete this essential project and safely restore the bridge.

We'll be posting updates on the webpage as the work progresses.
